What if we replaced every flagpole with a tree?
Flags were designed as a symbol of affiliation –
Allegiance.
I have never pledged allegiance to the United States of America,
Because that is not where my loyalties lie.
I am a child of Mother Earth.
We stumble endlessly upon beauty
And the fruits of the Earth.
Our winding conversations
Sweep us through infinite fields
Of crackling summer grass,
And carry us along on the soft sea breeze.
Fall leaves burn brightly –
Radiant pastels
Scattered gently underfoot.
